Strength training is an essential element of fitness for virtually every sportsman or woman. A physiological analysis of any game will confirm that athletes require explosive power, muscular endurance, maximal strength or a combination of all three to excel. Strength training improves muscle balance and increases musculoskeletal resistance to repetitive stress.
Strength in modern day football has become a vital athletic quality. Players can use strength to hold off opposition, make their presence felt on the pitch and become more of an asset to their team through various game scenarios such as: being strong in the air, holding up the ball or demonstrating strong defending. Becoming strong is highly recommended regardless of what position you play in.
This program lasts for 12 weeks featuring three stages. Each stage lasts for 4 weeks with feedback questions at key intervals. Carry out these exercises within the comfort of your own home:
